Guayabera
There is a tale of a Cuban farmer named José, who once asked his wife to sew extra pockets into his shirt so he could carry guayabas to market. From this quiet gesture, the folklore of the guayabera was born. Over centuries, it has been reimagined across Spanish colonies, its origins blurred by time and claim. Beyond that history, this is my own romantic interpretation. An offering shaped by story, memory, and reinvention.

Orgullo Andino
This collection is a romantic homage to Andean farm life, exploring the quiet harmony between human, animal, and land. Inspired by the movement of livestock; the strength of the bull, the elegance of horse-riding forms. These silhouettes echo motion and connection. Heavy leathers and tactile textures are balanced with fine silks and wool blends, creating a dialogue between strength and softness. Rendered in earthy tones of clay, umber, and ochre, each piece captures the resilience and poetry of rural life, designed to move in rhythm with the body and its surroundings.

Japanese Single Needle Selvage Denim
I created these under the guidance of renowned denim maker Mohsin Jahid at the London College of Fashion. Through his teaching, I traced denim back to its 18th-century origins, while studying the enduring craftsmanship of Japanese selvedge and the philosophies of makers like Kapital and Evisu. This experience shaped my respect for tradition and quality. Constructed entirely on a single-needle machine, this five-pocket straight-leg jean stands as a quiet reminder that true craftsmanship, no matter how old, endures.

Andean Riding Knickerbockers
Though I was born in Colombia, it was my time in America that opened my eye to a wider language of dress. Knickerbockers, rooted in 19th-century Dutch settler traditions, have long carried a quiet practicality, one I’ve always recognized in the rhythms of field life. In this piece, three soft pleats frame a Gurkha waistband, each detail fully hand-sewn, with an adjustable waist that honors both function and form. A meeting of histories, shaped by movement, memory, and craft.

A coat
This denim coat is crafted from indigo-dyed twill, shaped with a clean silhouette and a concealed button placket that allows the fabric to speak softly for itself. The buttons, found in my grandmother’s drawer, carry a quiet history—an homage to the woman who first encouraged my path into design. A piece rooted in memory, where material and sentiment are woven together.

Bespoke Jacket
I created this jacket in my second year of menswear at FIT, a moment I return to often. Now refining my craft under Savile Row–trained tailors in London, I see it as the beginning—my first fully bespoke piece. Days of hand-sewing canvas and domette, and hours of meticulous pad stitching, shaped its lapel and spirit. It remains a quiet testament to my process, and to the foundation of Jose Maria Otero.

Wicker Picking Jacket
My travels through Colombia led me to the mountainous region of Pereira, where coffee and craft are deeply intertwined. Watching the ritual of coffee picking; buckets tied at the waist, heavy with harvest as the body moves along steep slopes. I saw both its poetry and its discomfort. This jacket reimagines that tradition, merging function with the beauty of the handcrafted baskets carried by these communities. It features two generous kangaroo pockets and delicate hand-sewn details throughout, an ode to labor, landscape, and the quiet elegance of making.

FIT Menswear Thesis Collection - Campesino Artesanal
Our garments draw inspiration from the rich heritage of Colombian farmlife, where the ruggedness of the land meets the refined touch of tradition. Growing up surrounded by the delicate art of tailoring and the raw, unrefined tools of the field, I’ve always been fascinated by how the simplest materials—whether mud, fabric, or steel—can come together to create something functional yet beautiful.
This duality is at the heart of our work: blending the industrial strength of modern workwear with the elegance of menswear tailoring. Our designs embody the spirit of "el llanero"—the cowboy of the Colombian plains—capturing both the grit of the land and the grace of the craftsmanship that shaped my upbringing. It's a celebration of blending strength with sophistication, the old with the new, and tradition with innovation.
